Love those bits of fragrant fried lard (猪油渣) on top of the already lard-y saucing that came with some heat. Nice <i>mee pok</i> texture which was within the margin of acceptance. Everything in the bowl was what typically could be considered "on point". I have just one gripe. The portions were kinda small for this $4 bowl. Nice portion of minced meat, sliced pork, a couple of factory meatballs and a fishball. I had initially thought they oversauced it but it turned out to be appropriately done. Nothing in particular was outstanding but it was assembled well with decent ingredients. Stuff like minced pork, tiny shrimps and finely diced mushrooms which was later topped chopped spring onions, fried shallots and bits of salted fish.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">The dominant flavour was garlic and the salted fish which made it moreish. Might be because there seemed to be less of that "muddy" taste from the meat. Might also be because that bean sauce was cleaner tasting and reminded me of the sweet sauce from <i>chee cheong fun</i>. Just so that it's clear, this was the fermented soy bean sauce which is generally sweet, not fermented black bean which is salty. This sauce with the chunks of lard were a duo of rice thieves.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWPgqWkZckodFGBoa4_yESaTeIiuaBsPhBqJvM7sX9kdWffboed-C3D5-seP99o0aBlF1U8pnC9fadcx1uowh3ZxnIFO9xolUD7ak5zU7YDfDDnC6QumHKgI-Vl6M_fHokLjmqAgzydotYUaYB4PiKTRPNYV405OmGMzCgaBHJ5LIY0OOLz8cF9w/s4032/xing%20long%20food%20stall_stir%20fried%20kailan.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="Xing Long Food Stall (興隆菜社), kailan" border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWPgqWkZckodFGBoa4_yESaTeIiuaBsPhBqJvM7sX9kdWffboed-C3D5-seP99o0aBlF1U8pnC9fadcx1uowh3ZxnIFO9xolUD7ak5zU7YDfDDnC6QumHKgI-Vl6M_fHokLjmqAgzydotYUaYB4PiKTRPNYV405OmGMzCgaBHJ5LIY0OOLz8cF9w/w400-h300/xing%20long%20food%20stall_stir%20fried%20kailan.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">Decent stir fried (清炒) <i>kailan</i> with garlic. This tasted like it was of totally different standards from the previous visits. Today's bowl was noticeably more bland and less vinegary. Quantity of the toppings appear to have lessened significantly - noticeably so was the minced meat which looked pathetic. I'm hoping this was a one off which shouldn't be happening in the first place. Definitely not worth what I paid for. </div><p></p><div class="blogger-post-footer">perspective in gastronomical proportions</div>LiquidShaDowhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00426020284591387403noreply@blogger.com040 Holland Dr, #01-39, Singapore 2700401.3071034 103.7933963-27.003130436178846 68.6371463 29.617337236178845 138.94964629999998
