Xin Man Tang's located at the same coffeeshop as NKS Indian Muslim Food (18B Circuit Road) from a few months back. They're basically a roast meats, chicken rice and wanton noodle stall. Pretty decent tasting greasy plate of chicken rice (I got 鸡尾) here with a lime-y garlicky chilli. The char siew was pretty darn good with the fatty bits and sweet char on the surface.
Authenticity seems more a matter of ranges and limitations than of outright prescriptions. - Jeffrey Steingarten, The Man Who Ate Everything

Re-visiting Song Fa Bak Kut Teh (松發肉骨茶) @ Chinatown Point
It has been a while (a few years actually) since our last time at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh. The reason I give myself for not doing so is the queue. Often long and discouraging. But we made it today and did not have to wait very long.
One of the things I've been looking forward to is gulps of their King's Garden Ale.
We ordered some old people food like salted vegetable/pickled mustard greens, sliced fish in peppery broth and braised tau kee. That and pork knuckles which the menu has option for less lean meat - so this was mostly fat and skin. Nice.
Those pickled vegetables, a splash of the peppery broth and the braising sauce from the pork knuckle created rice thievery. 👍🏼

Little Rogue Coffee, Yong Siak Street
Lunch at Little Rogue Coffee (27 Yong Siak Street). These guys have been around and previously operated at Tanjong Katong before moving here. They appear to be another mostly all day breakfast-y food kind of place. This spot which they're occupying used to be Soi 47.
Not bad breakfast spamwich. Eggs, spam, hash brown, cheese and mustard. It has that combination of fat, salt and protein that made it pretty easy to like and there're no surprises here.
From what I gathered, they're known for their scrambled eggs with ikura. Also pretty good. The eggs were creamy and purposefully flavoured with the brininess from the ikura and some richness from the truffle cream. Nice with the buttered sourdough.
There's espresso tonic here.
Maple thyme hotcake was delicious. Love the crusty texture on the edges. Flavour of the herb came through the hotcake. Think that was a miso caramel sauce drizzled over. Ice cream was Earl Grey.

Mee pok 白 from Authentic Teochew Tradition Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle (潮州传统香菇肉脞面)
Recent bowl from Authentic Teochew Tradition Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle. With vinegar, no sambal and spruced with the heat from the sliced red chilli. The taste profile was kinda reminding me of the bowls from Liang Seng Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle. Must be the sauce from the braised mushrooms.

Revisiting the yang zhou fried rice at See Sean Rice Stall (时鲜饭店)
Been a while since we've had the yang zhou fried rice from See Sean Rice Stall. It's as tasty as I remember. I don't know if I can actually recall any local styled fried rice that's as good or better at this price point. Will be back to explore beyond their fried rice territory.

Bee hoon from Ah Seng Teo Chew Minced Meat Noodle (亞誠潮州肉脞面)
Finally got to try the bee hoon bowl from Ah Seng Teo Chew Minced Meat Noodle. Was a lot lighter than I imagined compared to mee kia or mee pok. Beyond textural differences, it was the same vinegary taste like the previous bowls.
Really tender fishballs.
