First meal back in KL was at MTR 1924 in Brickfields (69 Jalan Thambipillay, Brickfields, 50470 Kuala Lumpur, tel : +60 3-2276 4924).
Came across a Thatte idli which wasn't on the menu in the branch back home. These are were larger than the regular versions and had lentils, peas and a bit of coriander in them. The answer to the unasked questions is, yes, that's a little container of ghee to be drizzled over the steamed rice cake before you ate them.
Trying their special mini meal for the first time - this platter included starches like white rice, curd rice, bisibele bath and a buttery masala dosa (each order gets a choice between dosa and poori). To add on, some vegetables and sagu along with sambar/rasam, chutneys, kesari and payasam. The last two are desserts.
Awesome melange of flavours and textures. Also pretty filling.
Chilled and sweet badam milk infused with saffron and cardamom to help quench the heat.
A few days later......
We came back for breakfast. A decision from a leap of faith was made here. 😬 Compared to the rendition back home, the rava idli here was absolutely loaded with coriander! 😲 But these did not have much coriander flavour. In fact, those flavours were faint. Never understood how they made that happen but now we know this works for us. These were also larger than the ones back home.
Their podi idli was also pretty large and thickly coated with the cheesy/salty/spicy podi. Yummy
Delicious benne masala dosa here.
Hot badam milk.
