Two Guys, Seah Im Food Centre

Two Guys, lamb hawawshi

Came across Two Guys (#01-22 Seah Im Food Centre, 2 Seah Im Road) but there was only one guy there.😏 Looked like another one of numerous kebab stalls around. The proprietor recommended their hawawshi so I picked the one with lamb and added cheese. From what I gathered, it's an Egyptian flatbread stuffed with meat and onions. Looked much like a quesadilla. Not bad tasting but I should omit the mayo the next time. Their menu on Foodpanda appears to have a larger variety than what's displayed at the stall though.

Lao Chen Ji (老陳記), Holland Drive Food Centre

Lao Chen Ji (老陳記), Holland Drive Food Centre

Lao Chen Ji (#02-43 Holland Drive Market & Food Centre, 44 Holland Drive) is the third of my "yong tau food trilogy" at Holland Drive Market. The first two were Hakka Noodle and Fifty Yong Tau Foo. What distinguishes this stall from the previous was the option for kolo mee which I don't think is offered elsewhere. Great saucing with flavour from shallot and their delicious chilli sauce on those curly noodles. In my opinion, all three of them are worth an eat or more because of the quality of their ingredients. If I had to pick favourites, I'd rank Lao Chen Ji and Fifty Yong Tau Foo a little higher.

Egg pratas from Hajjah Syed Meeral

Hajjah Syed Meeral, egg prata

Breakfast on a Sunday morning at Hajjah Syed Meeral. Not much stalls are open at this time of the week at Pasir Panjang Food Centre. This was a satisfying plate with two egg pratas and mutton curry. Did I mention that I enjoyed it? The texture was a little doughy like the old school stuff and I loved how the flavour from the rendered mutton fat flavoured that curry.

Madras Coffee House’s, Kerbau Road

Madras Coffee House’s, masala chai tea

Stopped by Madras Coffee House's (#01-06, 54 Kerbau Road) for a couple of masala chai. While the address states Kerbau Road, it's actually located at the junction of Kerbau Road and Chander Road. A short trot away from Mr BriyaniGandhi Restaurant and Swaadhisht

The place is a roadside stop for drinks and snacks so there's no seats. One gets munchies and drinks to go or you can eat by the road side. Closest thing to a street food experience we have. Their masala mix wasn't very intense but the flavour's there. Tea's milky and not too sweet. Will come back in the future for them.

Tangra Chinese, Race Course Road

Tangra Chinese, Race Course Road

We've seen Tangra Chinese (28 Race Course Road, tel : +65 9155 7645) around. Trying their food for the first time. From the menu, it looked Indian Chinese and Tibetan. A category we haven't explored much of.

Tangra Chinese, sweet lassi

There's lassi. Not thick but still refreshing.

Tangra Chinese, pan fried chicken momos garlic chilli

Tried a couple of their momos. They're are dumplings of Tibetan and Nepalese origins and usually are steamed. These red ones are stuffed with chicken and glazed with a chilli garlic sauce. I detected a hint of ginger it it. But otherwise, it's pretty much like most fried dumplings.

Tangra Chinese, palak paneer momos

The steamed momo we had was stuffed with palak paneer. Spinach and cheese. The latter, Indian cottage cheese with texture very similar to tofu.

Tangra Chinese, palak paneer momos

The stuffings were chopped up. These were delicious. Kinda pricey though at almost $3 a piece.

The dumplings were served with a sauce on the side. Don't know what it was made of exactly but I detected lots of garlic and fermented bean in it.

Tangra Chinese, mixed chow chow rice

So, the Indian Chinese stuff...this was their mixed chow chow rice. Mixed because it has both chicken and shrimp in it. The rest of it were basically stir fried basmati rice and egg noodles with spring onion and eggs. Tasted much like yang zhou fried rice. Not bad.

Tangra Chinese, lemon chicken

That's their lemon chicken. It wasn't so much lemon-y then it was plum sauce and the flavour of that wasn't intense. Not like the local lemon chicken which is generally more sweet and tangy.

Tangra Chinese, mishti doi

Dessert was a mishti doi. From the flavour, I'm guessing it's yoghurt with caramel folded in. Nice one.

Kalid's Corner, Holland Drive Food Centre

Kalid's Corner, Holland Drive Food Centre

I've only notice Kalid's Corner (#02-10 Holland Drive Market & Food Centre, 44 Holland Drive) quite recently and I don't remember if they're new and it was another tenant previously or have I been oblivious once more. The thing that most people were ordering were their pratas.

What got my attention was the bowl of sambal you could help yourself with at the front of the stall. Not such a common sight. Flavour seemed to indicate that the chilli was roasted and their rendition was not as sweet. There's plenty of ikan bilis in it. Great pairing with the fish curry on my order of a kosong and telur.
