Riaz Nasi Kandar (330 Serangoon Road) is at the traffic intersection just outside City Square Mall - less than a minute's trot from Kalam Restaurant and Dindigul Thalappakatti Restaurant. Used to be Komala's years ago before it was replace by one of the outpost of the ABC Nasi Kandar chain which mysteriously subsequently shuttered all their branches some months back.
Vadai and idli were not bad. Delicious and definitely satisfying with the spiced chutney and dal. This was at the thereabouts of 9am so everything could still be considered freshly made. I actually enjoyed the green coriander flavoured chutney.
No complains about the podi idli.
Tried their sarang burung special prata. These from what I understand are a style of roti prata/canai that originated from Malaysia and appear to have made the menu of the local stalls and gotten a bit of attenion in the recent couple of years.
The prata is shaped into a ring with a couple of sunny side ups and mutton keema in the middle. Not bad tasting. Sambal on the side was sweet-ish and infused with flavour from ikan bilis. Noticed that this place provides the dollop of sambal by default.
Sadly, both their teh halia and masala tea have pretty weak spice infusion. The tea's pleasantly sweet and milky though.
