Kucina, Food Republic @ 313

Kucina, Food Republic @ 313

This was just bad. 👎🏼

Kucina, cheese wheel pasta

This was their cheese wheel pasta - was pretty surprised that there was so much cream in it. That cheese wheel was just a gimmick because there wasn't much cheese flavour. It's obviously mostly cream. Tasted cheap. Couldn't even discern the black pepper in it.

Kucina, meatballs

Meatball had a mushy texture and tasted floury. There were a lot of fillers in them and did not taste good.

Kucina, pasta & meatballs

We're generally against food wastage but it infuriated me thinking that I'd have to swallow these so as not to waste food. We didn't finish it. Will not be coming back. 👎🏼

Delhi Lahori, Tekka Food Centre

Delhi Lahori, Tekka Food Centre

Delhi Lahori (#01-266 Tekka Market & Food Centre, 665 Buffalo Road) among the eats at Tekka Market has landed itself a Michelin Bib Gourmand which piqued my curiosity. A bunch of the stuff from the stall weren't available at the opening hour when we were there. So I ended up with chapati and keema. Latter's spicy packed a bit of heat with nicely flavoured minced mutton. It's more watery than I thought though.

Delhi Lahori, chapati keema

A few days later......
Delhi Lahori, fish tikka

Fish tikka - very tender and salty. Not smokey like I imagined them to be.

Delhi Lahori, dal palak paneer naan

Some naan with dal and palak paneer. Both the lentils and spinach were unexpectedly spicy - not bad tasting as gravies/dips went. Cheese naan was sadly not so cheesy. Kashmiri naan tasted generic with maraschino cherry, raisins and some unidentifiable bits of nuts.

Taste Ipoh, Raffles City

Taste Ipoh, Raffles City

Some food from Taste Ipoh (#B1-81 Raffles City, 252 North Bridge Road). As the name of the eatery would suggest, they're doing Ipoh styled food and according to them, the menu's a "celebration of Ipoh's culinary heritage".

Taste Ipoh, crispy popiah 怡保传统香脆薄饼

Tried their crispy poh piah which has dried shrimp (hae bi) flavour in it. We like this rendition better than the one from Auntie Mei's Crispy Popiah even though it didn't have as much crunchy bits. Did have more sweet sauce and was more competently wrapped.

Taste Ipoh, fragrant spicy dry curry chicken bee hoon mee 香辣干咖喱鸡米粉面

That's something called Fragrant Spicy Dry Curry Chicken (Varuval) Bee Hoon Mee - not bad. Not understanding the 'varuval' part in the name but I'm guessing it's got to do with the chicken. Texture from the noodles were pleasantly firm and we kinda enjoyed the dark gravy flavoured with curry from the "dry curry" chicken.

Taste Ipoh, ipoh white coffee 怡保白咖啡

Pretty good tasting Ipoh white kopi c. Coffee's fairly robust with adequate fragrance.

Pazonia Italian Street Food, Amoy Street

Pazonia Italian Street Food, Amoy Street

Pazonia Italian Street Food (49 Amoy Street) has been mentioned a bit in the chatters lately. Mostly about their panuozzo. We walked past them on the way to Sodeng recently and I kinda decided that I wanted to check them out and made a mental note to come back.

Pazonia Italian Street Food, panuozzo burrata parma ham

I liked their burrata & Parma Ham panuozzo. Got this with extra balsamic glaze.

Pazonia Italian Street Food, panuozzo burrata parma ham

Burrata was chilled with creamy oozy innards of stracciatella like a luxuriant frosting over the salty Parma ham and peppery rockets. Not bad pizza bread. Gripes? Not tasting any of the pesto or olive oil they claim to be in there. That usually means it's either not enough or not good enough.

Pazonia Italian Street Food, carbonara rigatoni

Their carbonara was "alla Romana". Just enough of the emulsified egg and cheese coating al dente rigatoni. Nicely done but could be improved with better quality black pepper. Love those chunks of salty/fatty/porky guanciale in there.

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, Anchorpoint

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, Anchorpoint

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice has been around for some years and have a number of branches around. Having their chicken rice for the first time. Never ate at the original in Bangkok before. This was Anchorpoint (#01‬-07/08 Anchorpoint, 70 Alexandra Road, ‎tel  : +65 6470 8200).

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, rose tea roselle

Ice rose milk tea was pretty good - exactly like bandung with Thai tea if anyone's wondering. Roselle was decent, but it's not in the same leagues as the one from Din Tai Fung

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, chicken rice
Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, chicken rice

Both the thigh & breast meat chicken rice were nicely done. They're similar to the local Hainanese rendition minus the drizzle of sesame/chicken oil and light soya sauce. Rice was flavoured enough to eat on its own.

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, soup & sauces

Salty chicken soup and sauces. The dark one reminded me of a less viscous chee cheong fun sauce with chilli.

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, bitter gourd eggs

Not bad tasting bitter gourd with eggs - the only thing I didn't quite like was the excessive oil which were pooling at the bottom of the plate.

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, sambal kang kong

Sambal kang kong's competent and nothing out of the ordinary.

Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice, steamed tapioca coconut milk

We liked their steamed tapioca and coconut cream dessert. Nice sweetness from tapioca and light saltiness from that cream. What we also appreciated was that those tapioca weren't fibrous.

Daddy Cuisine by Daddy BBQ, Holland Village Food Centre

Daddy Cuisine by Daddy BBQ, Holland Village Food Centre

We noticed Daddy Cuisine by Daddy BBQ (#01-38, Holland Village Food Centre, 1 Lorong Mambong) in recent times so I looked it up and found out that I wanted to eat at their place back when they were located at Fortune Centre known as Atas Turkish Kebab. Never got to because by the time we made our way there, they were no longer in business and we ended up eating at Mr Doner Kebab that took over that spot.

As fate would have it......

Daddy Cuisine by Daddy BBQ, beef kebab salad

I think this was called beef kebab salad. Protein's the doner/shawarma/gyro variety shaven off the vertical spit, layered over vegetables. I liked it. Kebab wasn't dry or tough. Portion was generous to boot. I also appreciated that they didn't attempt to smother it with excessive sauces.

One week later......
Daddy Cuisine by Daddy BBQ, kebab with biryani rice

This was their mixed kebab with biryani rice. Briyani version of what we had last week that has chicken also. We added cheese which isn't visible because the cheese was melted over the rice before the meats were layered on top. No surprises here. This was as enjoyable with the bed of saffron scented basmati rice.

Another week later......
We got breaded out this time round, overestimating the amount that came with our orders.

Daddy Cuisine by Daddy BBQ, cheesy naan

Cheese naan. Not bad tasting.

Daddy Cuisine by Daddy BBQ, garlic naan

The garlic on their garlic naan was pretty sharp.

Daddy Cuisine by Daddy BBQ, moussaka

Moussaka came with even more bread which we did not expect. The eggplant dip was lightly chilled and smokey.
