Breakfast at Nusa & Tara. First time getting lontong with hotdogs and I've gotta admit this was good. A salty meatiness added on that's almost as satisfying as their spiced paru. Everytime I'm here, I tell myself that I don't come back here often enough.

The banana pie from Dona Manis Cake Shop
Dropped by Dona Manis (#B1-93, Katong Shopping Centre, 865 Mountbatten Road, tel : +65 6440 7688) for a slice of their banana pie since we were in the vicinity. The shop's sequestered in the basement of the building. I've been introduced to it some years back and I guess posterity demands that I get a picture of it up.
It's pretty unique as pies go here because it's a local pie and one doesn't typically find bananas pies. Crust is buttery with coconut and bits of almond. Banana's sweet and melty beneath that crust. Definitely a gem.

Tian Le (天乐), East Coast Road
This was at the Brunners Coffeeshop (228 East Coast Road) in the unit just next door to Meet 4 Meat. Ended up with this because Meet 4 Meat wasn't open. 😓
Anyways, pretty edible stuff. Char siew was not impressively tender in spite of the fatty layering. Chicken was not bad if unexceptional. The flavouring of their rice leans on the lighter side with hint of ginger. So it's easy to go with their chilli sauce since I'm not missing much here.

Revisiting Suju at Takashimaya
Back at Suju ( 一, 二, 三, 四, 五, 六, 七, 八, 九, 十, 十一, 十二, 十三, 十四, 十五, 十六, 十七, 十八, 十九). Also mostly getting a bunch of stuff we've had previously.
Like their kuro goma tofu with dashi.
And tamagoyaki.
And tori ume shiso tempura. No slice of pumpkin today.
Moist.
Pork spare ribs. Deliciously tender.
First time having their kurumi dare seiro soba before - cold soba with walnut dip. That creamy walnut dip was so good. Imagine a nuanced nuttiness with a robust flavour from the nut. Pretty pricey for the serving though.

Niboshi ramen from Ramen Dining Keisuke Tokyo
Finally got to try the niboshi ramen from Ramen Dining Keisuke Tokyo. Broth's made from dried fish stock if anyone's wondering. I'm not sure exactly what dried fishes went into it but I hear things like anchovy. Personally, I thought it tasted like there was bonito in it. Nice for the first few mouthful but I ran into diminishing returns with the flavour. The fish flavour sorta got less and less pronounced. I was also thinking that it might have been thicker like their lobster broth but you know, expectations vs reality.
Now that I've tried it, I don't think I'll be getting it again. I've had my pick with what I've wanted to from this shop so it's now been narrowed down to the lobster broth bowl, their Iekei ramen and their Jiro style bowl in the future.

Tiong Bahru Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice (中峇鲁海南起骨雞飯), 111 Somerset
Unexpected find here (#07-K10, 111 Somerset Road). We've had it at Tiong Bahru Food Centre and Smith Street but for reasons never thought they'd set up stall in this area. Can't say that it tasted any different from the other stalls so it's another pretty reliable option for chicken rice in town.
