Romankan Yokohama, Takashimaya

This Japanese katsu shop is located at the basement of Takashimaya. The menu consist mostly of pork, chicken and prawn based katsu rice and wrapped sandwiches with the sets accompanied by pickles, rice, shredded lettuce and miso soup. There are servers dressed in French maid outfits. The food here is pretty similar to another that serves katsu and curry at the basement of Liang Court in Meidi Ya.

I would say that the curry here is decent, nothing more. It's definitely not the diluted ones you mentioned and the portions here are sufficient if not generous. YMMV. ;)

I've been there. Can't remember exactly when but it should be in the past 2 years. I was quite disappointed that one of the supposedly squid filled with cheese things were actually some sort of fish cake and not squid. The food there is not bad, but the service is spotty. May re-visit.

How much do the katsu sets cost? They look mighty delicious to me! Keep up the great food blog! *thumbs up*

Hi creepcake,

I do not recall the exact price, but it should be within $14 or thereabout. The picture that features the prawns are actually a promo on that day which cost about $13.

Though not the best I've tasted, but they're pretty good. The standards are about similar to the store outside Meidi Ya.

Are you referring to Tampopo when you mentioned the store outside Meidi Ya? I ate there for the first time last week, and found it just average. Ordered their signature ramen, uni, fried salmon skin, fish roe and sake. The bill was pretty shocking (in my opinion) though - $160+ for 2 people! :P

Great that u'd tried it.

I haven't had time to pop down to Meidi Ya these days but I noticed they do have some bentos as well as a restaurant that serves Kyushu Ramen. Supposedly its very good.

Will be slightly busy with my exam stuff of late. Arrange a day, visit it together. :D

@ creepcake
Nope, not Tampopo. The place that I refer to is beside another little eatery that sells udon which I also do not remember the name. :p The katsu place only sells katsus at a counter, nothing else. The seats are located at the counter.

@ jeff
can do. let me know when your exams end. I have a lot of places to go to that I wouldn't mind company for too. My november fridays are all booked up. :p
