This was our first visit to the Malaysia Boleh! (B1-102/103 Great World, 1 Kim Seng Promenade) which had taken over the same section at Great World that used to be Malaysia Chiak!. Pretty good bowl of signature noodle from Huang Chao Teochew Noodle House. Soup's deliciously savoury with a mix of decent quality ingredients (balls/dumplings) and the mee pok was lardy. Note to self : Gotta get those noodles 白 and to get them to omit those Chinese celery (芹菜?) sprinkles the next time.
Authenticity seems more a matter of ranges and limitations than of outright prescriptions. - Jeffrey Steingarten, The Man Who Ate Everything

Personal Best in blueberry bagel from Two Men Bagel House
Now that the blueberry bagel's available in all of the branches of Two Men Bagel House ( 一, 二, 三, 四, 五, 六, 七, 八, 九, 十, 十一, 十二, 十三, 十四, 十五, 十六, 十七, 十八, 十九, 二十, 二十一, 二十二), here's a Personal Best version of it. Why this combination? Because I can.
Answering an unasked question, yes you can taste those blueberries in some bites.

Mei Heong Yuen Dessert (味香园甜品), Temple Street
I got this green mango shaved ice thinking that the shaved ice would be green mango flavoured. I was wrong. It was milky and sweet - nothing like the citrus infused ice shaving I was imagining. Those green stuff in syrup that's drizzled over - might be preserved mango. Has that 酸梅 kind of taste. Definitely not the somtam mamuang kind of green mango I was thinking of. My bad for thinking so highly of Mei Heong Yuen Dessert (63-67 Temple Street, tel : +65 6221 1156).
To be fair, Mei Heong Yuen generally doesn't suck. Just this time. Because today they also gave me this peach oolong tea which doesn't have the slightest peach flavour at all. Why?!
White truffle whatevers from Shake Shack
Shake Shack's been doing a lousy job out of their limited edition burgers here. Much like how I've been doing a lousy job out of avoiding their gimmicks because......here's their white truffle burger. Made with Regalis Foods’ USDA Organic White Truffle Arbequina Oil they say. But I couldn't tell and wouldn't know any better. Burger's still nice but not so much in the white truffle department.
Why so? Because the sauce came across like sour cream or ranch with truffle flavour. Tasted cheap. $8.90 for a serving of fries with that sauce. Why did I even do it? I need to just stick to their regular menu because those are what I like about them.

Gong He Guan (恭和馆), Upper Cross Street
Pretty sure I've had desserts at Gong He Guan (28 Upper Cross Street, tel : +65 6223 0562) in the past but apparently I haven't talked about them. So here's me not sure about how I'm feeling about their walnut paste. There's definitely walnut flavour but the viscosity was lacking. Felt somewhat thin compared to say Yat Ka Yan. Wouldn't say that it's bad but I also didn't like it so much.
Milk tea with gui lin gao (龟苓膏) was not bad. Tea's not as diluted as I was led to believe from appearances.

Let's eat Prata Saga Sambal Berlada
The signboard for Prata Saga Sambal Berlada has changed. The cleaner looking update has in big and blue the words jom makan which translates from Malay to 'let's eat'.
That's their prata bom - unrecognizeable I know since it's just prata with condensed milk. There's a light crisp on the surface and yummy where there's condensed milk; though said condensed milk was not evenly distributed.
Got a double cheese prata. I don't know how much cheese there is usually on the regular cheese prata version so I can't tell if this was really double of that. But it was cheesy for sure. Salty, milky kind of cheesy which also paired nicely with the dalcha and the sambal. I'm thinking this would be great with sugar as well.
