Breakfast fish sandwich from Long John Silver's

I remember having breakfast sandwiches a long time ago from Long John Silver's. A long time like maybe almost decade back? Anyways I got one recently because I haven't had it for ages and didn't mind reminding myself why I don't eat it of how they tasted like. This was their fish sandwich - not the same fish as their regular menu because this one was breaded and not battered. A few criticisms I have. 

The tartare sauce (weak and mostly mayo) overwhelmed the cheese and even the butter on the bread. So note to self, no tartare sauce the next time. Coffee was not nice. No a la carte option was available so I was forced to buy the sandwich as a set with the tater tots and coffee which I know they charged me for. I see this as poor business ethics, nothing more.

How I ended up with a $12 packet of Beo Crescent curry rice

Now what could add up to $12 for a packet of curry rice at this affordable and popular kali png pitstop one might wonder.

I wanted to shake things up a little and break out of the pork chop/chap chye routine. This was originally intended to be just a fried egg, beans, sotong and fried prawns. Then I saw fish eggs *cues halo glow*. Something I had never seen from the Beo Crescent curry rice stall before.*gasp*

The single portion of fish eggs they gave was puny so I asked for an extra portion. And that was how I ended up with a $12 packet of curry rice.

Nutella pistachio with bacon in jalapeño cheese bagel from Two Men Bagel House

This marks my first time ordering out of the "packaged" bagels from Two Men Bagel House's menu. Not that I thought those weren't good enough. You know it (一 二 三 四 五 六 七 八 九 十 十一 十二 十三 十四). Felt like breaking out of the routine for a bit and got this jalapeño cheese bagel with Nutella, pistachio and for good measure, some bacon. I liked it. The salt from the bacon/cheese and the chocolate sweetness from the Nutella definitely paired. A bit of heat from the jalapeño gave it a light kick to keep the palate on the toes.

珍珠坊香港烧臘 (Zhen Zhu Fang Roasted Delights), People's Park Complex Food Centre

How I ended up getting food from here today was because of irritation. I was searching for roast meat (烧腊) stalls at People's Park online. I was sure there must have been at least a a handful there. Most of the search results were either Toh Kee or 珍珠坊香港烧臘 (#01-1098 People's Park Complex Food Centre, 32 New Market Road) with numerous mentions of them being recommended by the Michelin Guide. So I decided to try.

Here's roast pork, duck and char siew. For some reasons, I had to repeat my order 4 times before the guy in the stall would stop confirming my order. I had also repeatedly mentioned during those 4 times that I wanted 半肥 for the char siew but I ended up getting lean portions anyway. *sigh...*  I'd classify the roasts as decent/edible even though this takeaway might not be the best showcase of how their food might have tasted compared to eating over there. The hard boiled egg was nice though. So tender and I thought it was cooked just right.

Note to self - ask for more sauce the next time.

Got a bowl of wanton soup because I wanted to know if theirs were good. The dumplings were quite meaty and pretty tasty. I saw the guy in the stall carefully scissoring the stalk of vegetable into the soup. Don't know what vegetable this was but it sure was tender.

Unhealthy vegetarian noodles and otah breakfast

Vegetarian noodles from Seng Kee. Not so vegetarian anymore because I had it with otah which were gotten from just next door to them. Those otah were okay-ish generic. Also the first time having them with their curry. Mee doesn't absorb curry as well as bee hoon but I guess enough of it clung onto the noodles for flavour. Pretty greasy but surprisingly, it didn't keep me full for as long as I had thought they would.

Prata tiga telur banjir (three egg flood) breakfast

Got this recently from ABC Food Corner. Three egg pratas banjir styled. Banjir if you didn't know means 'flood' in Malay. In this context, it was flooded with a curry of choice (I picked chicken) before they packed it for take away allowing the curry to be absorbed into the prata. Not a picture of healthy eating but what the heck, it's an uncommon treat for me.
